New Client: ESP Foundation

We have been asked to evolve ESP FOUNDATION’s brand strategy and visual identity.

Our Brands With Soul framework dials up the Soul and Personality ingredients versus traditional frameworks and ensures brands are future-proofed, showing up with positive impact and humanity in their core.

ESP Foundation is a charity spearheaded by its Founder, Eartha Pond, who has previously featured on the Unorthodox Blend podcast, hosted by Mark and Russell of Rosie Lee Group

The Foundation creates opportunities and programs for young people, ensuring everyone has access to education and sports, and can maximise their full potential in life.

Studio Mickalene Visual Identity

Mickalene Thomas, who lives and works in Brooklyn, NY, is an artist renowned for her bold and striking paintings, collages, photography, video and installations. Drawing on both art history and popular culture, her work redefines female sexuality, beauty and power through a contemporary lens, with a particular focus on celebrating Black femininity.

As Mickalene says: "I like finding beauty in the grit, in the darkness – they go hand in hand. It’s a form of survival, and I’d like to reflect that in my art."

This duality finding beauty in unexpected places comes through in her branding, which we designed to reflect her vision and ethos.
The core elements of the Mickalene Thomas brand are feminine, alluring and sophisticated. The typography is large and expressive, commanding attention yet it maintains a refined elegance. The type is paired with an elegant, curvy, feminine aesthetic, which aligns with the themes Mickalene explores in her work.

The colour scheme is a tonal black and off-white palette, creating a sense of subtle power. This minimalistic, bold colour choice reflects the contrasts present in Mickalene’s work—the balance between light and dark, grit and beauty.

Together, these elements form a visual identity that’s striking and deeply reflective of Mickalene’s artistic journey.

Mickalene Thomas

Mickalene Thomas makes paintings, collages, photography, video, and installations that draw on art history and popular culture to create
a contemporary vision of female sexuality, beauty, and power.

We have worked closely with Mickalene and her studio to develop identities for her work as an artist, but also for her partnerships, collaborations and store. We also collaborate with Mickalene for her exhibition graphics and are currently designing an updated web presence.

To celebrate the milestone, we created a set of anniversary logo variations — a fresh take on the crew’s iconic identity, rolled out across communications and a limited-edition merchandise drop.
