John Tree Brand Identity




John Tree is a London-based product designer known for his extensive knowledge of materials and manufacturing techniques. His work has won multiple awards and his clients include leading global brands such as Deadgood, Sony and Roli.

After years of collaboration, John asked Against Time to define a new brand identity that would present his portfolio with clarity and impact. The goal was simple: create a presence where the product is always the hero.

Strategy

We set out to create a brand system that would act as a quiet but confident frame for John’s work. The strategy emphasised clarity, restraint and functionality — reflecting John’s own design ethos.

Our approach focused on ensuring the identity and website felt minimal and timeless, while providing the tools John needed to showcase his process and projects to partners and clients.



Identity


The brand identity is succinct and understated, designed to let the product work take centre stage. Clean typography and a restrained visual system were chosen to complement, rather than compete with, the portfolio.

The outcome is a brand that highlights John Tree’s body of work with precision and elegance. The identity and website work seamlessly together to support his reputation as a leading product designer while keeping the focus on his designs.


Future


The system is designed to scale with John’s practice. As new collaborations and projects emerge, the brand and website provide a flexible foundation that can adapt while maintaining consistency.
